NOTES:
(1) CASTELETE Family: A Sephardi Jewish family from Portugal who left Iberia in 1498 for the Ottoman Empire. In 1492 the Jews were expelled from Spain and Portugal by an Edict. They fled mainly to the Ottoman Empire which was one of the few places to welcome them. Our family has lived in Turkey for over 500 years.
(2) BEHAR Family: A Sephardi Jewish family from Salamanca, Spain who left Iberia in 1492 for the Ottoman Empire following the Expulsion Edict of that year.
(3) REBONATO Family: From a small town called Bovolone in the Province of Verona in Northern Italy which was part of the former Venetian Republic.
(4) BARBIERI Family: From the Town of Ferrara and Cento in the Province of Ferrara in Central Italy. The family is descended from Guercino (real name Giovanni Francesco Barbieri) the 17th century Italian Rennaiscence painter
